The Powell Family, Takanini
Warren: “We came to New Zealand from Suva in Fiji in 2008. When we first arrived in New Zealand our son was two and half years old. We came to New Zealand in search of a better life for ourselves and our son.
A lifeline of hope
Hi, my name is Tania and this is my partner Lei.
We are Lisa & Wirihana, proud parents of Ngāwaka & Raukura, & proud owners of a crazy dog - Tokena. Prior to our Housing Foundation journey we had been renting in south Auckland, in Manurewa where we both grew up.
Home Ownership Changed Our Lives
Hi, I am Richard Drake. I live here in Mangere with Nicola, my wife and our three sons Oliver, Thomas and Peter aged 6, 5 and 1. I work as an Organisational Development Advisor at Auckland Council.”
A Life Changing Moment
After her divorce, Jackie found herself starting over again. She moved from Wellington to Auckland in 2005 with four children between the ages of 1-13 years.
Cynthia, Tamarua and their kids Anton, Sae’Leigh, Lealin and Kodi were renting just down the road from where they now live in their new home with assistance from the Housing Foundation.
Rebecca, Jennings, kids and Rebecca’s father have moved into their new home out in Sunnyvale. They tell the story of their journey here.
"Before moving into our new home through Housing Foundation, we had been renting together for 13 years, from when we got married."
Vikki Ham is one of the many people helped by the Housing Foundation. She tells her story of how it feels to be given the chance to own her own home and how it has changed her life and the future for her two sons.
