The Wayne Francis Charitable Trust is providing a limited number of 3 and 4 bedroom houses throughout the 300 home Halswell Commons development for first home owners to purchase under the Trust’s First Home Buyer Initiative.  The first 3 bedroom houses are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019.

On behalf of the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust the Housing Foundation is currently accepting applications from households meeting the criteria below to purchase their first home.


Who Can Apply for the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust First Home Buyer Initiative in Halswell Commons?​


You must be able to meet the following criteria:

  • Be fully committed to owning your own home
  • At least one member of the household must be in full time employment
  • Permanent New Zealand residency
  • No previous home ownership interest
  • Total gross household income of between $74,000 and $95,000 per annum including Family Tax Credits
  • Deposit of at least $35,000 (dependent on income) including Kiwisaver and HomeStart Grant
  • Minimal or no debt
  • A good credit record
  • Be able to qualify for a home loan, which we will assist you in obtaining, from one of the Trust’s partner banks.
