Funding Tools

Banks

Specialist mobile mortgage managers can help you to arrange your mortgage for our shared ownership programme.

We will introduce you to a bank we work with (ASB, SBS, BNZ, Westpac and Kiwibank), and a mobile mortgage manager will meet with you. To test what you can borrow, we suggest you use the banks’ mortgage calculators and if you want more information on their mortgage lending terms and conditions, you can visit their websites.

Kiwisaver

First home buyers can use their KiwiSaver contributions as a deposit for a house.

You can withdraw some or all of your KiwiSaver savings (except for the $1,000 kick-start and member tax credit) to put towards buying your first home. You need to have been a KiwiSaver member for three or more years and you can only withdraw money to buy your first home. For more information, go to ird.govt.nz/kiwisaver

Budgeting Advice

Looking for help with budgeting and managing your finances?

The New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services can help you with this. Their service is free and confidential. Housing Foundation can introduce you to an office near your workplace or home, or you can find out more at familybudgeting.org.nz

‘Sorted’ offers New Zealanders free, impartial information and calculators to help manage money throughout life. Read our guides or use free online tools by sorted.org.nz
